The house that we show you today has a very special peculiarity and is that it has started with the kitchen. It is a Swiss home that was initially only a kitchen made of HI-MACS®, but from it a truly exceptional family home was created. On the Brigerberg plateau in Termen, With great views over the valley and the Pennine Alps, this simple wooden box-shaped structure is located It sits on a visible concrete base and protrudes from the slope.
The wooden house, made to measure, is open on three sides thanks to the extensive glass walls of the first floor. The open wooden roof stands only on sophisticated supports, wrapped by large windows without frames. Because the position of the building on a slope, delicate issue, the entrance of the house is located at the basement level, where the garage, the laundry room, the storage room, the hall with clothes rack and the office are located and what is the habitable surface of the house starts on the first floor .
When Matthias Werlen began designing this family's house, the kitchen model already existed. The kitchen is located in a prominent place so that everyone can see it and its main feature is an island with white panels made of HI-MACS® Alpine White and a backlit glass. The set is completed with simple cream-colored furniture.
The kitchen not only constitutes the focal point of the room, but also it is located in the exact center of the entire building. Its open plan design allows anyone who is cooking an impressive panoramic view of the mountains. The light oak flooring complements the kitchen furniture and its grainy texture offers a vivid contrast with the clear and smooth island in acrylic stone.
The single-family house was designed and built in accordance with the criteria established by the MINERGIE standard, so guarantees the best in terms of energy efficiency, both in thermal insulation and in power supplies such as solar panels as well as in the energy classification of the chosen appliances.
Another surprising stay is the bathroom also built in acrylic stone, in which the walls blend naturally with the shower floor and in which a dividing glass is inserted into the wall in order to avoid the joints that must be sealed and cared for.
It is clear that the location of the house and the views do a lot, because they are really impressive, but we must recognize that the interior is also very cozy and original. A new example that our house does not have to be equal to all, but you can create spaces with personality, different and tailored with the starting point of our choice that can be as simple as a kitchen on a mountain with views.
